Wyong Musical Theatre

TOMORROW NIGHT IS SOLD OUT With only 5 performances left available make sure you get your tickets fast. Here is another amazing review from John Gerrie. .

Four people on stage presenting a collection of unrelated songs using minimal costumes, sets and no choreography at all. Sounds like a karaoke night at the pub but it isnt. This is truly a magnificent distillation of Musical Theatre at its best.

Musical Four amazing voices Sancia West, Isaac Ledingham, P.J.Willis and on the performance I attended, Vivienne McLaren (Vocal coach), filling in for Sophie Booth, working separately and together with a series of incredible songs from Jason Robert Brown. Not with the backing of a large orchestra but just the sensitive interpretation of Kimberly Gilbert (Musical Director) on keyboard and Cooper Storey on drums. Theatre Four people under the direction of Daniel Craig providing an emotive, raw, funny and intimate interpretation of each song.

Each song is a musical story in its own right and the director and the cast are to be applauded for the ways they have created the characters that inhabit each song. To move from an asylum seeker or a couple struggling to connect, to then bring to life a fed up Mrs Claus or a basketball star, takes great commitment and skill on the part of all involved. Wyong Musical Theatre Company also deserves praise for bringing us this wonderful production.

It is a big step for any theatre company, at this time in particular, to move away from a well-known, money spinning popular musical to widen our perception of the musical theatre world with a bold, intimate production such as this. Congratulations to all involved. .
