FURTHER INFORMATION FOR GMS MEMBERS 11 JULY To update everyone since our last bulletin, the Board will take an active ongoing role in preparing and publishing information on activities in relation to Laycock Street Bicentennial Community Theatre moving forward and also about COVID-19 restrictions and how they will impact us. The Board would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support and interest over the last few weeks. It has been a very busy and stressful time and we thank you for your patience.

Although it would appear that recently there have been differences with Council, we have been and will continue to work with Council in all matters relating to LSCT and GMS in a collegiate and appropriate manner. Council, through LSCT staff, is currently working very hard to establish performance requirements within current restrictions and have been in touch with the production team and the Board in relation to moving forward with our forthcoming proposed production of Mamma Mia. The Board has been given opportunities recently to voice its concerns via radio interviews with the President as representative of the Board.

We were also afforded the opportunity to provide information for an article in the local community newspaper and took advantage of that opportunity to notify the public of the current status and interests of all theatres on the Central Coast. The Board has been in touch with Presidents of other community theatre groups on the Coast and discussions continue about forward strategies which will benefit all of us. We have also contacted local politicians to raise awareness of our concerns.

The Board has written to the Minister of Local Government, The Hon. Shelly Hancock to seek advice as to the appropriateness of reinstating the Laycock Street Theatre Advisory Committee, which was abolished as a result of the amalgamation of Gosford and Wyong Councils. Again, thank you for your support and please stay connected with us through social media to stay updated on the latest information.

The Board would like you to understand that there is and will remain a partnership approach by both GMS and Council to work towards the future. If you have any further enquiries please forward them to [email protected]. Scott Goodacre Secretary On behalf of the Board 11.7.
