The inaugural Coastal Twist LGBTIQ Arts & Culture Festival in 2019 saw something very special, commanding national attention by aligning with the most innovative festivals in the world Twist embodied authentic inclusion of all people and quadrupled expectations with over 7,000 people attending across 3 days of free and ticketed beach, film, theatre, exhibition, dance, events with up to 50% visitation. Festival highlight Coastie Carnie Fair day captured hearts and minds with rainbow family areas, teen spaces, disabilities spaces, and a main day stage with contemporary headliners alongside locals. We were all set to Return this October long weekend, Coastal Twist like most festivals around the country had to reimagine the how and why and we decided cancelation was not an option but pushing the festival out by almost 4 months would mean we could forge ahead and keep everyone safe with adjusted plans for a midsummer 5 day, all ages, accessible free and ticketed festival 19th Jan 23rd to accompany future Oct dates.

Its important that we continue with the positive momentum already generated toward a more visibly equitable and welcoming coastie community who are part of the planet as global citizens.
