WWLT ANNOUNCES RETURN TO PEN THEATRE FEB 18 TOGA CLASSIC FOR ZOOM PLAYREADING: WWLT is still locked-out of the Peninsula Theatre but will be back in 2022. While access to the theatre is still restricted under health orders, the only theatre company on the peninsula thought theyd have a bit of fun Zoom-style. According to president Christine Vale, We got two shows up this year Love Letters and Ladies in Lavender and, even though we continued to rehearse via Zoom when lock-down commenced, Spirit Level had to be postponed to open on 18 February and Ben Hur to 20 May.

So, to get in the mood for WWLT productions being back in 2022, wed like to invite you to some short Zoom play readings by the cast of Spirit Level and Ben Hur. FREE Invitation Zoom Play Readings Wednesday 13 October 7:30 pm They are: One of Us by John Fraser and Rinse the Blood Off My Toga by Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster. One of Us This play was written for the FLASH Festival when the theme was FIRE.

But it was never performed in the Festival as John had submitted other plays as well. Its about some volunteer firefighters talking about a lost mate. And it seems to work really well as a zoom play read.

So some of the cast from Spirit Level has been rehearsing and having some fun with it. Cast: Geoff Hay (will introduce the play) Frank Wiffin plays Glenn, the not so eloquent firefighter Judi Jones plays Kate, the volunteer fire chief Jenna Arnold plays Alana, the firefighter Rinse the Blood Off My Toga Keeping with the theme of ancient Rome and surrounds, the cast of Ben Hur will be performing the classic who-dun-it, Rinse the Blood Off My Toga. Cast: Terry Matthews as Flavius Maximus, private Roman eye Greg Buist as Brutus say no more.

Jake Cain-Roser as Mark Antony, Claudius the bartender, Tiberius, etc Rebecca Bright as Secretary and Calpurnia (Mrs. Caesar). You need to register, say Christine.

If youd like to join in this short virtual evening performance, please register at [email protected]. Youll be sent a link to the Zoom meeting link to use. Please login about 5 minutes before the performance.

If you would like to invite friends or family to join in, please ask them to register also, so they can be admitted to the Zoom meeting. So, although were not yet able to be back together face-to-face, we hope to see you soon via Zoom.
